Heat Resistant
"What dreadful hot weather we have! It keeps one in a continual state of inelegance." ~ Jane Austen
When the Spanish first saw zinnias in Mexico, they thought the flower was so dull and unappealing they named it "mal de ojos," or "sickness of the eye!" Years of propagation have brought striking colors, shapes, sizes, and growing habits to the humble zinnia. No present day gardener would ever describe this versatile bloomer as anything less than lovely to the eye.
The heat index today registered at 108° Fahrenheit. The zinnias retained their elegance.
