Thorny Crowns

Row upon row of thorny crowns await their royal destinies.  I love how specialized each of the spines sprouting from each thorny node appears to be.  There's a large fishhook; smaller, pin-sharp, straight spines, and the even smaller, white, apparently failed spines, each of which, I imagine, serves its own purpose in protecting the plant.
