Chi Lin Nunnery/Nan Lian Gardens
Yet another first for me today, after 10 yrs in HK!
'The Dominie' has visited Hong Kong twice in the last three years and has posted these amazing photos of it and both times we've met, I've been embarrassingly sorry to say that I had never been there. But that's all been rectified now and today was the day.
Despite the slight rain, we made it out there to see this amazing, tranquil, picturesque haven of peace in the midst of Diamond Hill. It was just so beautiful. We were mesmerised.
The temple at the Nunnery itself is probably the most beautiful Chinese building I have ever seen, I think I liked the colours better than the usual bright red, blues, greens, and golds of most Chinese architecture. The extra pic will give you an idea.
I had invited a brand new DB resident from Australia along. Sharon, and her husband, moved to HK in November and I noticed them on our bus and befriended them. And today I finally got to do something with her and take her to this place that I'd never been to before. So we all explored together.
We then headed to the Jade Market for a very quick walk through so Sharon could see where it was and then I took Niwah and her to an umbrella shop in Sham Shui Po where I buy most of my umbrellas. Ideally one should have an umbrella for every outfit ;-) and this shop is well stocked.
Temps have definitely fallen over the last days and this coming weekend is going to be a freeeezzzing 8C!!!!! Good grief!
