Walking in the rain

Look how wet and sad I’m looking today.  It has rained and rained and rained and rained.  And it’s still raining.

This morning I went out at 7am for my walk but we got as far as the newsagents which isn’t very far and Ann said, ‘Molly, I can’t stand this.  Let’s just buy a newspaper and go home.’  So that is what we did.

But then of course I hadn’t had a proper walk, which meant that I had to go to work with Ann when I’d rather have been snoozing in my bed so that I could walk there at 8.30am.  Ann told me that the rain would have stopped by 8.30am.  She lied to me?!  It was raining even harder by then so by the time we got to work we were both soaked through. 

And then we had to walk home at lunch time and it was still raining and we hadn’t even dried off properly from the first walk?!!

Heating on and we were soon warm and cosy but do you want to know what happened next?...........................  Ann said, ‘Molly, we can’t spend all afternoon watching Jeremy Kyle we still have to walk 15000 steps a day even though it’s raining.  And we’re nowhere near that yet.’  And we have to do it because we’ve told the whole world about our challenge.

I love going on my walks.  I really do.  But sometimes, very occasionally, I’d prefer to have an afternoon where I could just snooze in my bed!  Anyway, I didn’t have a choice in the matter.  Ann clipped my lead onto me and off we went for more than an hour…………..  In the rain.   And when we got to the 'Beach Bar' and she made me pose on a picnic table, I thought she might be having a glass of wine and I could have a little snooze, in the dry, under the table.  But the ‘Beach Bar’ is closed for the winter and actually; even Ann isn’t silly enough to sit in the rain drinking wine.

…………….So we carried on trekking around and by the time we got home we both looked liked drowned rats. Must 'google' where the saying ‘drowned rats’ comes from.

…………And we’d only walked 14129 steps?!!!  Actually I’m pretty sure I’ve walked more than that?!  Collie’s cover a lot of ground!

Apparently instead of just going for a quick bedtime wee, I’m going to be walking round the block later…………………..  Ann has promised me it will definitely have stopped raining by bedtime?????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
