Everyone loves a freebie

So this weekend I was supposed to be going to the Taste Festival at the meadows. It was cancelled due to flooding. That didn't stop the bargain hunter in us. Hannah and I can smell out a freebie from miles away!

Last night Mark Greenaway and Angels & Bagpipes decided that they would still make the food that they should have done for the festival. With one exception, they would give it away free. Hannah, Richard, Heather and I filled up on free scallops, free pork belly and free eton mess. We ended up in the pub, all in all, a brilliant night.

Today we went to an open kitchen at Locanda de Gusti on Broughton Street. This is Rosario from Naples showing us how to make a pasta dish. Very tasty stuff! Before we realised it, we'd been there two hours, eaten enough free pesto, free pastries and free Italian delights to feed a small army and were laden down with goods to take away (these weren't free).

We have more than made up for the cancelled Taste festival!
