Happiness is ...
... walking again on the moor.
The morning started with a fun telephone call to my eldest grand son who is 6 today and full of news of yesterday when he invited 20 chums to his football party! I then spoke with the 4 year old who told me that his mum was going to watch "The Scotland man" on TV today!
Buoyed up by yesterday's walk I decided to try to take Cara back to one of our favourite walks, the moor. As we still haven't had the AllClear from the vet, and this walk does involve some rough ground, I bound her foot with a crepe bandage and then put the recalcitrant boot on top in the hope that the extra padding might ensure it stayed on! It worked!! We had a wonderful walk. Yellow and white are the predominant colours of the wild flowers on the moor at the moment with the odd zing of purple from elegant foxgloves and more subtle marsh thistles. There was no sunlight to entice the butterflies or bees but overhead the mewing of the buzzards echoed across the valley as they called to each other. I touched the new larch cones as I passed them and they are quite tough now although still maintaining a soft mahogany colouring.
To my delight the hills were on view again today and I did take some atmospheric shots of misty clouds clinging to their tops and descending into their valleys but really felt that this one of Cara happily back in her element, despite still being on the lead, typified the day.
I shall now settle in to watch the tennis. Both men have a lot riding on this encounter and whoever wins I hope they provide us with an exciting match!
