DIY Nightmare

This is my dad.
He hates DIY.
Maybe hate is a bit of an exaggeration, but he most definitely doesn't like it.
I do. I love being able to create something. Something unique. Something that fits exactly what I need and isn't available in the shops.
Dad has patiently put up with my crazy ideas and designs and helped me construct some awesome furniture over the years.
I am sure he thought that those days were long gone.
They aren't.
I want/need a light table. I want/need a lightweight, compact (for storage) and versatile one.
I researched DIY light tables and found one that sort of worked and tweaked the design a bit.
All was going wonderfully until one of the pieces of wood split while attaching it to another.
It stopped us in our tracks.
This is dad staring at the naughty piece of wood with his 'I really don't know why that happened or what to do to stop it happening again' face.
Behind the camera, I have the same face.
We were both tired, deflated and puzzled.
Back to the drawing board...

ps. Dad has a Blipfoto account. He is a lurker. He loves taking photos. He takes great photos.  He needs some encouragement to post :)
