Day 22: 34k - Long Run
Target: 121.18
Actual: 170.74
Ahead of Target
I woke up to a very pleasant day this morning. It was extremely mild and dry when I was walking the dog at 0330. 'Happy Days' I thought to myself as I had my planned 34k before work run planned. Oh how quickly things can change.
My taxi was booked for 0420 as I'd figured on an 0430 start which would see me finished, if my planned pace worked out, at 0720. This would give me plenty of time to get a shower and breakfast before starting my shift hitting my toffee hammer off the metaphorical coal face. It also gave me a bit of a buffer if I didn't hit my targets. I sat on my bottom and ate some porridge with raisins, a chocolate croissant, and drank a pot of green tea. The text that the taxi was dispatched got me up and out the door to be confronted with a monsoon. Ducked quickly back in to get my running gillet which gives a bit of protection against the elements. I have to admit I'm a bit of a Pluviophille. I love the rain so it didn't bother me.
My planned route today was on a 0.5m (approx. - 10k was 11 laps exactly) loop round my work. I think it worked out at about 37 1/2 laps. Great run! Hit my targets in terms of pace - ran a negative split as planned and really enjoyed the internal journey of running distance on loops #dizzymyheadisspinning :)
Off to Ambleside tomorrow for a week. Bring it on!
