Cranes in the Camargue

After a ridiculously early start, the flight and car hiring went smoothly. The ornithologically aware will probably have guessed that we have moved country from my blipfoto. Not impossible to see Cranes in the UK - indeed getting easier - but here in the Camargue it is hard not to trip over them amongst the Flamingoes, Egrets, white horses and black bulls.
And it was warm enough to eat a very decent squid lunch outside on a terrace by the sea with a cloudless sky, one wonders why we don't winter in France as the Cranes do.
On arrival the house seemed in a decent condition. Tricia's one slight downer was the thermometer reading a mere five degrees centigrade in the main room on our arrival. A fire was lit and one corner of the room became more habitable.
