The Calm Before the Big Storm
Snow started falling around 2:00 PM at a rate of about an inch an hour. That will change around 7 PM when blizzard conditions will generate 2+ inches (~5+ CM) per hour. Blizzard conditions (35-50 mph winds) are expected to last most of the day Saturday and will most likely dump 24- 30+ inches (60-75CM) by the time this ends sometime Saturday night. Forecasters are saying that this may be the largest snow storm that Washington has ever seen (if not #1, it will be pretty close).
The Northern Cardinals usually don't show up at the feeders until just after sunset. But today they showed up 2 hours early and have been feeding like crazy. I guess they know something big is coming...
