A concrete love affair

The Crick Tunnel

The southern portal of Northamptonshire’s Crick Tunnel on the Grand Union Canal. Approximately 37 miles south of Leicester. If you look closely you can see the northern portal, almost a mile through the tunnel.

Very interesting area to visit, with the funnelling of railways, canals, old roads, new roads, defunct roads and a service station through the Watford Gap.

When people have said to me in the past, " I don't know anywhere north of Watford" I wondered which Watford they are talking about? It would be rather more fitting if it were Watford Gap, as the area does very much in my mind mark a transition point from north to south. Or more precisely where the South East gives way to Midlands. Even the geology below changes at this point.
