Life through the lens...

Surprise creature!

Just starting to flower is this lovely shrub we have growing in a pot.
Philadelphus "Innocence".
It has clusters of fragrant white flowers, and the leaves are splashed with yellow.
Common name is "Mock Orange Blossom".
I thought we would miss the flowers with being on holiday, but because of the lack of sun it waited until we got home!

I bought it about five years ago from Houghton Hall in Norfolk.
They have a beautiful walled garden. This was in full flower when we were there and the perfume was irresistable, so I bought a small plant. Ended up in a large pot as there was no room left in the border. I have to keep cutting it back, but is doesn't seem to mind.

Didn't know there was a little creature in the centre until I uploaded the photo onto the computer.
Not sure what it is but looks a bit like a flying ant.
Can anyone on blip tell me?

Not a bad day. Not much sun but quite warm.
We went to our local fruit farm today to pick some gooseberries. They had a fantastic crop! They don't mind the wet weather.
Unfortunately the strawberries are a bit of a washout. May be with a few dry days and some sun they will improve.

So it's gooseberry pie for tea! Yummy with lots of cream!!

Hope you are all having a good weekend.
Watching Andy Murray at the moment! Very close match!! Not sure if he is going to win. Fingers crossed!!
