Mushrooms

Cooked tea (or is it dinner?) for daughters last night after another good day at school - despite hacking cough (so off the cigars for a bit!).
I love mushrooms - I think with their strange texture they are one of those love-hate things like bananas. Collecting, cooking and eating wild ones is one of my favourite things to do. Sad that I've not managed that very much the last couple of autumns.
Girls were very pleasant and amenable tonight, though they basically ignored me! That was okay though, I just chilled on the sofa and amused myself with other things - more pleasant than sitting in my room at school by myself... Started watching Theory of Everything, brought inevitable reflections of Oxford - thought about why I didn't go to a single ball...! (apart from the £150-200+ ticket price, didn't think of convincing reasons...).
Thinking of my big sis and husband in their cabin on the Bay of Biscay, on their way to a new adventure well into their 50s... Hope my life is like that...
Been very touched the last two days that two of my Sixth Form tutees have burst into tears on me, poor things.
Now lying in bed at 6.30am on Saturday trying to gear myself up for something of a working weekend - though the edited textbook manuscript I'm supposed to be checking / re-writing hasn't arrived yet...
