Black Sail

After camping over night at Black Sail Pass we returned to low level and headed down the valley to leave the area. We had found out that Andy Murray was in the final at Wimbledon and wanted to get back, if possible, to watch.

At Black Sail sits the most remote youth hostel you could ever wish to find. 8 miles from the beginning of the valley, it remains a wonderful location to explore the area. In the distance you can see Green Gable, Great Gable and Kirk Fell. We had climbed them the previous day and found them to be great challenges, particularly the descents from Great Gable and Kirk Fell which felt almost shear at times.
