The Ying and Yang of Winter Light
After several days, or it feels like weeks, of overcast skies it was great to have some winter sun out today while I was walking the dogs. What always catches my eye initially is the strong side lighting on the pines in John Muir Country Park making the bark of the tree trunks come alive with detail bathed in a lovely yellow light. However, the converse of this is the elongated dark shadows that are cast on the ground as the raking beams of light find their way through the trees. I thought I would illustrate both sides of the coin in my blip today. Remember one of those long shadows is the photographer as it is almost impossible to remove oneself from the view, though it does do amazing things to the body shape. If only I could really be that slender shape !
