Onwards and goodbye.

After a morning walk, shopping and a lovely lunch in Wanaka with Catriona and Diane, it was time to leave them and head off on the lonesome foursome leg of the trip. They were heading for Doubtful Sound and we were heading north through Haast pass and on to Fox.
The drive along Lake Wanaka and through Haast again did not disappoint, with stops every few miles, walks through the fern forest to Thunder Creek, The blue pools and Roaring Billy. We were well and truly ready for a coffee when we walked into a different world in Haast hotel. The serious game of gambling added to the atmosphere of this "Backwoods type" hostelry, but it saved our bacon. The carrot cake didn't hinder it either.
We arrived at Fox Top 10 and cooked dinner in the communal kitchen and after a glass of vino, hit the hay.
