My Heritage & the Humber Bridge
As well as chocs and liquid refreshment, my children gave me a year's membership of Ancestry dot co dot uk for my birthday. I've spent almost the whole of today on family tree research. It's fascinating! I've already filled some gaps in my existing records. Terrible for the back, though, bent over my laptop for hours on end! I'm going to have to pace myself in future.
Recently, I had my father's tapestry of the Humber Bridge reframed, and today stuck it on the wall. He drew his own design from his own photo. I think this was one of his favourites; it's certainly mine. I hope he'd approve of the new frame. It's already over ten years since he died, so, sadly, he, too, is now an ancestor. If he were still alive he'd probably opine that that would explain why he feels so old and tired! He was a man of few words, but he had a lovely wry and whimsical sense of humour. He's making me smile now, even if I have put words in his mouth!
