stubborn snail

Yesterday, I released this snail from its awkward position in the rain-gauge and set it out in the garden again.

Today I found it back in the rain gauge, I recognised it by it's shell pattern.
Apparently it climbed back 1 meter up the pole and into the gauge, however now surprised by the rain water pouring in. So, captured trying to escape from drowning !
