It's a super exciting time to be a biologist - so many developments, so fast! One of the most exciting recent breakthroughs is the characterisation and application of the CRISPR-cas9 system - a method to effectively do gene surgery. One of the people who stood at the base of the discovery is former Rockefeller postdoc Dr. Emmanuelle Charpentier and she returned to her old institution to update us all on this system and its outlook.
