Lion and Castle Yard, Timberhill, Norwich

A little research needed into today's photo. Out at lunch time I chose to walk back via Timberhill, fairly confident that I would stumble upon a 'Yard' or 'Court'. This is what I found.

Back home just prior to blipping, my research tells me that these few cottages are all that remain of the original 17th c buildings; once weavers' cottages. Norwich was famous for it's textiles. These were restored by the Norwich Preservation Trust, one has an authentic reed thatch. There was one other yard sign 'Palmers Yard' along a few from the entrance to the yard. It was enclosed, so whatever was there is hidden.

I worked late tonight, arriving him at 6.45. Mum had prepared a lovely dinner for Henry and I. Henry had already had his history lesson, as dad had brought all the information on the 2 great great uncles who died on the Somme, for him to take to school.

After dinner I chatted & listened while dad relayed some stories of his childhood. I made as many notes as I could and want to carry on tomorrow evening. Now though, its time for bed said Zebedee!!
