Fort de la Redoute Ruinee...

...taken from the ski lift for Derelict Sunday this week.
Originally built in 1630, it was developed as a border fort in the 1890s, and was the scene of a heroic defensive action by a small number of troops during the Second World War.
The fort now welcomes you into France on the ski tour from La Thuile - which we did today. It was a bit chillier than yesterday, but the visibility was excellent - Mont Blanc still in evidence!
