DFO today (Dull Flat and Orrible lighting) was a term thought up by a friend (since passed on) at the Christchurch Photographic Society where The Boss cut his teeth on the hobby many (sorry not telling) years ago. And when it gets DFO the mind gets to work on countering all that dullness. Today was walking day but The Boss had some urgent technology stuff and at departure time there was a thin misty drizzle and no degrees and he convinced himself not to go walking. I would like to point out that this was NOT a collective decision as I hung around like glue, smiled a lot and kept my soft brown eyes right on him but to no avail. However he did promise to take me out after lunch (when he hoped that the light might improve) but it didn't and we went anyway. The Boss generally keeps his promises except when he doesn't.
The lake front by our home is well poplar- ated and these trees have to be watched as they can rot out and fall on people or dogs in the wind and in the season we do get wind. Always from the North / Northwest and often strong. When the trees get suspect the council gets them dropped and a feature of this operation here is that often only the rubbish is cleaned up and the big bits left. There is a cunning plan involved as the hope is that the locals will come out with their chainsaws and remove them, saving the contractors the cost of doing so, but this does not always work especially with the really big bits so these are left to provide "natural landscaping features" to our lakefront. As a dog I originally thought that it looked terrible but as the bits have aged maybe I have changed my mind. So take a look and vote.
I suppose you want to know where this is... OK it's on the lakefront at Edgewater our local watering and hot coffee place.
OH AND guess who we met while we were up the track after lunch (his not mine) The "B" team Yea!!! And I was off lead so I greeted and greeted and greeted them. OH boy that was fun and then they went to Edgewater for coffee. It's a tough business walking on a Monday.
