An Appealing Antidote

We've had another day of episodic heavy rain and generally gloomy skies, so I enjoyed my visit to Fourth Corner Frames & Gallery downtown to pick up an order even more than usual.

Sheri Wright, the owner, has been a huge help to me with my old family photos and documents, recommending a professional art restoration firm in Seattle when I needed such services, and providing expert archival framing right here in Bellingham when the restoration was completed.

Her gallery, in business since 1973, was the national winner of Tru Vue glazing company's Retail Store Makeover Contest in 2014, which provided a complete remodeling of the showroom, as well as an operational makeover, new marketing plan, and new website.

The gallery displays a wide range of art, with exhibitions changing monthly. I particularly liked this bright floral work, "Tapestry," by Rob Gischer, January's featured artist, which you can see on the righthand side of today's blip, and in full on the extra photo. His display is titled "Poptics," a word coined to describe "the fusion of color, line, optical illusion and geometry... meshed into this collection of amazing acrylic and oil paintings." I'm fascinated by the varied subject matter and styles seen in Rob Gischer's show.

Feeling devoid of imagination myself, it was good to get a boost here today!
