Quantity Surveyor...
Iasked him to quantity survey the number of bridges behind him without looking...
He got it right...
We headed over to the new bridge education centre for a wee project update that was happening today. I think we missed the main event but we did get to nosey around and I got my nagging question answered.
There is a huge crane like structure been set up on the north viaduct structure that's been constructed. I was trying get work out how it works but couldn't get my head round how they would lift it.
It's not for lifting. It is to help level the whole thing while it gets pushed out from the place it's being built. Concrete has been added to the end to counter balance it and the crane structure acts like tent guy ropes to hold the suspended end up and stop it from tipping and bending down as it's in mid air. When they get it out to the first tower supports where it has to be lifted slightly and dropped into place. Very interesting engineering.
