Gin & Tonic
Due to a wet miserable day (it never once stopped raining) the Martins decided to stay at home and catch up with outstanding jobs etc. Here is my much needed pre-dinner Gin and Tonic. My 'Gin of the day' is called 'Fifty Pounds Gin'.
The 1736 Gin Act was introduced during the reign of George II, whereby an annual levy of £50 was imposed on those wishing to produce and sell gin.
After six years, just two distilleries had agreed to pay this tax - this gin comes from one of those distilleries - hence the name.
