At Arm's Length

Keeping enemies at an arm's length does seem better than first battling them at one's door.  Another prickly pear cactus with oddly evolved spines.  The long, skinny ones sprout from pads of very fine, needle-like prickles.  As usual, despite the long spines' more sinister looks, the small, soft-looking spines are the ones that really hurt.
