Sandstorm

This was our much needed debrief spot today. We started off visiting Dunkirk which was still in appalling and desperate conditions compared to Calais. They have very little aid and because the government aren't registering them as an official refugee camp (to discourage them staying long term) organisations and charities aren't allowed to support them. There are many more children and families there. We then returned to Calais for lunch and got tear gassed by the French police (CRS) along with the refugees. This went on for over 2 hours during which time we were unable to leave the camp due to police blocking the entrance. This was incredibly scary but mainly just inhumane and heartbreaking seeing people treated this way- their dignity stripped away in a cloud of toxic fog
