Green 'Woodenpecker'
Someone is having a bit of a laugh around our village. This green woodpecker has appeared on the trunk of a willow tree alongside the path by the stream. It certainly made me do a double take as I walked by looking for birds to photograph. It is perched above a fallen tree trunk that last year had teeth and eyes added to it making it into our village crocodile (see extra). I wonder how many of the people who walk the path every day with their dog(s), while glued to a mobile phone, have even noticed their appearance.
We have not been badly affected by storm Henry. The wind is quite blustery but not too strong.
