Big news and not sure what to do

Today has been a bit of a bizarre day. It started out with me getting on the bus to go down to Edinburgh. Just before we reached the bridge, someone crashed on it due to the high winds, meaning that it got closed. This resulted in us being stuck at the Ferrytoll park and ride in Inverkeithing for about an hour, before finally getting back onto a different bus to continue the journey.

About half an hour from Edinburgh, I got a life changing email. Cambridge has accepted me onto their PhD Agriculture and Food Security scheme, and I have until Friday to say yes or no. I am extremely stressed - I know that this is one of the best biology PhDs in the UK, but I am very scared about leaving Scotland and everyone I love. I really do need to think about it a lot before making my decision - I wish I had longer to decide!

I then arrived in Edinburgh and met Jonty for lunch. We didn't manage to chat about much else apart from the PhD as that's all I could think about. We had a glass of wine to celebrate which was lovely, and it was great to see him again.

I then headed down to my favourite shop - Curiouser and Curiouser. Emhowl had bought me a gift card for the shop for my 21st birthday and, although I knew what I wanted to buy with it since the day that I got it, I never got around to doing it until today. So my club captains' photo is now waiting to be framed in the shop with a lovely dark green frame and white background! Jonty will hopefully pick it up for me and send it once it is done!

Once I got back to St Andrews (via train as the bridge was closed), I sat down with my friends and drank wine and talked. It was a lovely end to the day, and helped me relax a bit after a busy day!
