Quarry
Cyclops and I went to Capenwray which is a quarry all set up for diving with weird stuff sunk in it to look at.
It was our first time in a quarry, only my second time in fresh water, so that was all new.
It was extremely civilised with changing rooms and a cafe for breakfast and lunch, and an easy entry of a ten metre walk from the car right into the water. Good visibility, lots of big fish in the shallows. Oh and it was (relatively) warm at 15 degrees so we dived for an hour, twice. That's quite long by UK standards.
The stuff to look at was pretty cool, we saw a plane and a helicopter and some boats and a model horse.
But it was kinda sterile, no crusty or squishy stuff growing anywhere, predictable in that it would be the same every time you went.
We liked it, we'll go again, but on the whole the sea is more fun.
