Our oak tree

I don't think that oak trees should really be planted in gardens, unless they are huge! but this is the one in our garden. As yet, it is not too big, but it takes all the nutrients out of the soil and some of the shrubs around it have now died. This is where I am trying to establish a group of ferns!
However, the winter outline is pleasing against the evening sky of the first of February.
The painter arrived this morning at 8.30 am and quickly got to work on JF's study. In the afternoon I went to the bookclub - we had an excellent discussion on Mill on the Floss, but I won't attempt to write it up now!! 
Except to say, everyone found it very well worth reading!
