Hail Caesar!
A day in Oxford at a work conference. A generally good day and a chance to catch up with a few people I hadn't see for quite a while. The best speaker of the day was definitely the chap who explained how the neoclassical economic model is fundamentally broken. Some of it was quite similar to areas covered in Freakonomics, but much I hadn't heard before. A few books to be read!
After the conference an evening reception in the Ashmolean Museum. I'd not been there before, so really interesting to have a poke round the bits which were open to us. Also laid on where some short talks by the staff at various points - I only managed to get to one of them which was about the conservation activities. Very interesting.
This statue of Caesar Augustus was in the lower atrium. It's painted up as it would have been when it was first made. Far more interesting than the plain white we normally see.
