Robert Burns
So, how did you celebrate Burns Night on 25th January? Perhaps you ate some haggis or drank a glass and f whisky. Well, knowing very little about the man, I decided to do an online course to learn all about him. It was so good, I finished it in just two weeks.
Burns certainly packed a lot of living into his short life: he was a farmer; a loyalist; a poet; a songwriter and lastly a lover. He was only 37 when he died, but by then he had fathered at least 12 children by 5 different women!
He is probably best known as the author of 'Auld Lang Syne' but I think my favourite poem is 'To a Mouse' which he wrote after destroying the nest of a field mouse whilst ploughing up a field. You can read it yourself here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/arts/robertburns/works/to_a_mouse/
