Roses are ... orange

What is the psychology behind having a favourite colour? The colour I find most aesthetically pleasing would probably be a deep turquoise blue, but I would say my "favourite" colour is orange. Our favourite things aren't necessarily the best things though. My favourite food is probably still burgers, but I would never claim that burgers are the best food there is. I don't particularly suit wearing orange, and I wouldn't paint my front door orange ... but I do still really want an ridiculously bright orange car ...!
