Frontier Woman
Enjoyed a lovely stroll round FW Botanical Gardens today on our Day Off.
This is D embracing the "Spirit of Woman" statue, which represents the frontier woman who waved her family home from the field at dusk when the work was done. This is the prosaic description I read about this statue "This image pervades our sense of women of the Southwest. We present her with cloth flag, in her long skirts, invariably beautiful, strong and protective and compassionate. "Spirit of Woman" represents a collection of individuals who heartily embraced the ethic of equal work and worked selflessly at tasks on the trails, plains, ranches. With dignity, strength, and good humor, they taught us not to fear the spectre and process of insuperable work but to greet it as a worthy opponent. They thrived on adversity with fierce independence and unbridled joi de vivre."
After this we went to our favorite cinema with reclining armchair seating to watch "The Revenant".
