Day dawns
Day Dawns
by Pablo Neruda
Day dawns without debts,
without doubts,
and later
the day changes,
the wheel revolves,
the fire is transfigured.

May this day be our child,
endless discovery, aura
of time recovered,
conquest of debt and doubt,
so that our life
may simply be
a pure morning substance,
a clear current.
This, on waking. A silvery sliver of moon. A blush of beginning again. Another meeting today, planning the event for June. Prayer flags flying out over the river. Boats. Drums. Fliers to distribute to those who will receive them. Peace, we want to say with the soles of our feet, quietly. Peace. Kindness. Will people show up for this? Will it make a difference? Can we pull it off? We pretend we can plan things and they will take place as we imagine. We are like children, pretending. But what else shall we do with the day given but dream of possible goodness?
I blow my nose, suck on a zinc tablet, sip tea. The wheel revolves, the fire is transfigured. Sure, I say, let's plan it.
For the love and wisdom yesterday, thank you.
