Not The Navy Way
"Always report five minutes early"
That's the Navy way and it's the way I've always tried to be.
On a cold, wet and windy night Joshua had to be at the bus stop to catch the coach to Cadet Camp by no later than 1815. Having walked down to meet me we got to the bus stop at 1805 and had a chat like Dads and sons do.
The coach arrived at 1810 and Josh chatted to the driver, at 1815 both the coach driver and Joshu were looking at their watches and still not another person had arrived.
At 1820 when they were due to leave the coach driver was asking Joshua if he knew where the Penryn and Helston pick up points were.
At 1825, ten minutes after the meet time and five minutes after they should have left the van in the photo turned up.
Pulling across the front of the coach so it couldn't pull away they strolled out of the van, including instructors, with a "we're here, we can go".
Never mind the youngsters waiting in the cold, wet and wind at Penryn and Helston.
No it's not the Navy way.
