kicking me while i'm down
so.
my phone got stolen so i had to produce my driving license at the shop to get a replacement number. this meant my license wasn't in my normal place.
i always carry my license with me.
guess which day the police stopped me to check my license? yep, today. i explained the situation (very politely) but she insisted that i pay the 180,000 kwacha fine. irritating. i didn't have any money with me so i told them i could drive them home but they refused so i had to phone my boss to come and rescue me with some money. meanwhile the lady police officer (100x worse than the men) told me i needed to drive her to the police station immediately. i told her there was no way that i was taking her anywhere and that we would jolly well wait for my boss. she didn't like that and told me i was being disobedient by refusing and would be in trouble. so we drove to the police station where they took my keys until john came and brought the 180,000.
zambian police are the most irritating people on the entire planet. everybody knows that the worst thing you can do is get angry with them but they have this way of pushing you right to the edge. i'm usually very calm but zambian police (or immigration officers for that matter) make me so angry.
and after about 20 times of spelling my name they still called me 'anna maare'.
thick.
