Fasti - making the connections

The Fasti Ecclesiae Scoticanae was first published in 1866.   It lists all the ministers of the Church of Scotland from the Reformation onwards.

It's a great tool for genealogists.

This is a fragment from the story of Manor Church - my local.    Peter Macvicar was introduced to the parish by the Heritor - the Earl of Wemyss and March.   The Heritors (like Patrons) survived into the early 20th Century.    Wemyss and March was also the Heritor for Lyne and Megget Parish Church next door.

Mr Macvicar died in 1901.  A quick move over to scotlandspeople.gov.uk shows that he died from "Heart failure, due to Gastro-intestinal catarrh" - whatever that was.   He was certified by Dr Clement Gunn - another famous name around here.

Thought for the day:   If you have anything else to do, don't go wandering on the Internet.....
