My lovely husband was learning about green shoot breaks at a first aid course and my eldest boy was consistently achieving personal bests at a swim meet in Aberdeen, so after church and lunch my middle boy and his little brother took a spin round the estate in patchy afternoon sunshine.

It was all well until we stopped for donuts at lidl on the way home when my littlest (stuck in the seat on the back of my bike) began to go blue with the cold while waiting on his big brother to navigate the aisles full of people doing their weekly shop.

After tea the swimmer and I made a pot of tea and played a game of Ticket to Ride while my lovely husband took our middle boy out for a night run up Bennachie.
