feeling grateful

Today I had some friends over for brunch. It was one of those lovely lingering affairs where we stayed at the table and talked for a long while, well past digestion. No worries for schedules, just a lazy Sunday afternoon. We talked about history, old Hollywood actors, the new Obama administration, education policies, the Hindenburg, traveling, and more than I can remember. After they left, after the cleanup, the late afternoon sun was striking these flowers in a way that reminded me how grateful I feel for my wonderful friends.
