Cormorant

A dull, damp start to the day but I opted for a walk round the loch before I went to pick up the dogs. Photography is easier when I have two hands for camera manipulation.

Sometimes I am lucky enough to see a cormorant on the loch and this morning I hit the jackpot. I spotted the bird, steadied the camera and .... the bird decided to dive. Cormorants can stay under water for some time and then there is the problem, where will it surface ... nearer to me or further away? Not long after I had taken this shot the cormorant took flight across the loch and landed on the island.
