Lennox Author Award
Another great award ceremony! The Lennox Author Award is East Lothian's own author award which I created and still run.
The winner is voted by pupils in P5, 6 or 7 in East Lothian Council primaries. The children have to have read at least one book by each of the shortlisted authors. This year’s authors were Gill Lewis, Piers Torday and Nicola Davies and the theme was ecology and conservation. Each year the shortlisted authors are invited and the participating schools all champion an author by any creative means of their choice - drama, animation, whatever! Then the pupils lead a Q&A sessions for the authors. We had animation, a short film, lots of great reviews, some acting, pop art.., etc.. It really goes to show what children can achieve when they are motivated and trusted. The authors' answers were really great and thoughtful too. The main photo shows the winner, Gill Lewis, with Lennox the Lion (our library mascot). The extra is the three authors and me (on the left).
