kiwifruit#662
Kiwifruit is native to north-central & eastern China. Cultivation of the fuzzy kiwifruit spread from China in the early 20th century to New Zealand, where the first commercial plantings occurred. Although cultivars were called by a variety of Chinese names, such as yang tao, the name "Chinese gooseberry" became commonplace, due to the flavour & colour of the flesh, among growers in England & New Zealand during the early 20th Century, as well with American servicemen stationed in New Zealand during World War II.

... unlike other challenges, Derelict Sunday allows you to post entries on any day up to midnight on Sunday ~ all you have to do is tag your blips (of anything that appears vaguely 'derelict' ) with that week's tag ~ this coming week's is #DS 17 & will now be hosted by TMLHereAndThere
