Angry birds
The coots get overlooked on ponds and lakes everywhere. They have a dull plumage and scud around like little black kettles. Photographically, they're not exactly demanding - until they trot. They're aggressive little blighters with a lot of attitude. I love the way they charge around the lake but usually miss the action since it always sparks right out of the blue and finishes way over the lake. But these two were quite obliging today and charged towards me rather than away from the camera.
In other news, I'd never realised that bread buns could be quite so controversial. They are in Yorkshire.
