Cabot Tower
We had a good day in Bristol today having spent the morning at the Mueum and Art Gallary. Next door was Bristol University with a very imposing tower, though it is Cabot Tower shown here. Built in 1897/1898 to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the discovery of the land to be known as Canada. See the Wiki place for details. It is possible to go up to the viewing platform but by the time we arrived it was shut for the evening, though the view from the surrounding parkland was pretty good. Couples appear to go there to watch the sunset.
In between the museum and the tower we had another look round Clifton Village, admiring the Georgian architecture and gardens, plus a mooch round the shops including a stop-off at Nero.
Tea was at a student pub near the centre of Bristol which had excellent beer and food, and loud music.
ps I've just been informed by Blip that this is my 1500th posting
