Glory Days

The bright red harvesters are hard at work in the sun-drenched fields around Georgetown in still-early days of the best summer we've had in years.

Jools is ecstatic. The hot weather and gentle aroma of freshly-mown hay stir vivid memories of a childhood spent in a country thousands of miles away. Her father at the wheel of a harvester towed behind a lumbering tractor, clouds of dust and insects billowing in its wake. Women and children gathered at the edge of the field with picnic hampers packed with fresh sandwiches, flasks of tea and lemonade.

Fond memories of a different - perhaps better - age.
