Olympic Torch Relay arrives in town
Another grey and miserable day. Managed to get a dry half hour in the garden at work reading my book. Didn't want to risk a longer walk in view of the heavy grey skies.
Left work a bit earlier so I could try and find the Olympic torch relay that was arriving in town. It was starting very close to my house. Husband got home early unexpectedly too so we walked down to try and get a look.
The roads were packed with spectators - many more than I'd expected. We managed to find a spot against some railings and waited for the relay to arrive. Crowd watching was fun - a lady turned up in a purple dressing gown and slippers (wondered if she was going to do a streak as happened in Henley earlier today) and another mother who insisted on pushing her double buggy further and further into the traffic so that her kids could get a good view.
We saw the large bus and the motorcycle outriders arrive and then the torch and this very excited lady went passed. It was all over in a few minutes but the crowd loved it. Interesting way to spend the early evening.
Got home to take a 'phone call from son number one. No use crying over spilt milk? May be when the milk in question has been spilt over son's laptop!
