Wonders from under the sea

Today we had a true tourist day and headed out to the place I was most looking forward to - Alcatraz. As with all things that you have great hopes for, I ended up not enjoying myself as much as I had hoped.

While the site is full of history and there is a wonderful mix of buildings from across the generations, it is, at the end of the day, one of the most depressing places I have been.

Looking to cheer ourselves up we headed back to the mainland and, after lunch, went to the Bay Aquarium. It is a relatively small set up, but had some of the best laid out displays that I have seen. We spent a lot of time with these jelly fish as they moved with such grace and it was a truly peaceful experience. Just what the Dr ordered
