Fluffy

Gorgeously fluffy little balls with a delicious pink hue to the feathers and to top it very Disney eyes. Who could not love the long-tailed tits? I think he was hoping that I would leave so he could get at the suet balls on the feeder.

It won't be long before the pairs of long-tailed tits visiting our garden will be building their elaborate nests. They can be at any height and are pieced together with lichen, cobwebs and animal hair which form an unmistakable domed shape. inside they are snug with a lining of up to 2000 feathers and the outside is camouflaged with cobwebs. We had one a couple of years ago here and it was fascinating to see but we were only aware of it's presence when the adults started feeding their young. The entrance is so tight that they have to hold their tails over their heads to get in!
